(collect)ives and community healing

The Wave Jump - (collect)(ives) are rooted in coloniality and the ego (I)

Sometime last week I had a meeting with collective that is said to be healing in the Black mental health space.

Said meeting turned out to be and interview, that I did not consent to, in which I engaged all sorts of of harm via my neurodivergence and mental health, and they felt they were in the powerful place to

pick and chose who and who cannot heal.

After processing over this last week I am realizing just how much danger we are in as a community of folx that need healing, while skipping dangerous steps in order to belong colonially, meaning our continued dis-ease.

The Deep - the pandemic hit, we panicked, arms failing in the water, no movement, just panic. We moved quickly and performatively into communal concepts that we do not understand, when the first step of community is the formation of self and spirit led discernment.

(collect)(ives) are groups of “I” centered persons who come together under the guise of community, but with the goal of collecting coins from the community and misnaming it as healing as when it is anything but. the healing is in the profit that they get to collect.

Community is rooted in indigeneity - slowness, intention, care, ebb and flow, non hierarchical way of being and knowing.

Sure you can get folx in a circle to talk, it’s not a hard thing to do, colonialism has stolen aspects of community and made them hollow. Why do you think talk shows exist?  Talk radio. Talk, talk, talk.. That is the problem we know talking too well. We do not know how to move community into daily praxis.

Healing can only happen when spirit and ritual are present. Healers don’t heal you,  they awaken you to the fact that you can heal yourself. which requires a deep understanding of self, ancestors, spirit, and the natural world.

We don’t know how to build community - full stop - we are coming into the beginning of knowing, but this is just the start.

The jumpstart of (collect)(ive) healing was a false one that is simply about profit. And when profit is leading the way, harm, and trauma are right around the corner.

We can’t collectively heal if we cannot directly deal with the implications of why our healing is needed.

We can’t heal if the people doing the healing are closest in proximity to, because we end up reinforcing colonial shame and hierarchy and nada else.

When I say we all need a trans praxis and lens on our life this is why. Our healing should look nothing like the world we see on display today.

It is not the beautiful, hollows ones who will be leading the way. The people who hold the gift of healing are the ones who have been discarded the most.

The ones who have to write posts like this because there’s always someone in the way, who can play games with community and healing to ensure their legacy for another generation.
