About the event
This event is hosted in collaboration with Texture Salon and R.A.C.E. Matters, San Luis Obispo, California.
Litm(us) is living praxis in restoring ritual and healing to afro hair. Both personally, communally, and in the beautyshops and barbershops.
This means the restoration of craft to afro hair; which has been captured by colonialism preventing us from learning our hair and bodies and placing it within the constrictive time constraints and made up rules of the dominant culture.
Afro hair as we know it has turned into a choatic mess of lies and misinformation and nastiness.
Afro hair requires slowness, intention, and care. The exact opposite of what capitalism stands for, whose goal is the complete erasure of Afrikan identity.
There is and cannot be a one size fits all.
